Welcome to my Home Page

Hello, I'm Maureen Cook, your Labour Councillor for Hatfield Central.  I've been a Hatfield councillor since 1992.

My main concern is the re-development of Hatfield Town Centre which really will go ahead, albeit in a much smaller development than was first planned.  The plans will be going on show soon and I will keep pressing for the work to be done as soon as possible.

I work hard for the people of Hatfield and hold regular surgeries on the first Saturday of every month at the Bill Salmon Centre in Hatfield Town Centre from 10am to 10.45am.  As from October 2009, your Hatfield Central councillors will also be holding a surgery in the Wellfield Room at Birchwood Leisure Centre from 10am to 11am on the first Saturday of every month, so that people from the Birchwood area who might find it difficult to get to the Town Centre, have easy access to their local councillor.

I am a member of the Shadow Board of Welwyn Hatfield Housing Community Trust, an exciting new development for the Council's housing tenants who will now have a greater say in the management of their homes and will have more opportunities to get involved in their communities.

The Health Working Group, of which I am pleased to be a member, has been set up to ensure that all the residents of Welwyn Hatfield have the best possible health services.  We are involved in the development of the new local general hospital in Welwyn Garden City and are looking forward to having a "Health Campus" with a 24/7 Urgent Care Centre, a GP Led Health Centre open 8am to 8pm seven days a week, a GP Out of Hours Service, mental health services, the Isabel Hospice, the Vicki Adkins Breast Care Unit, all out patients' services as well as intermediary care beds.
