About Me

Married with two teenage children, I have lived in Hatfield Garden Village since 2003. We moved from Bournemouth where I had grown up and trained as a science teacher, before teaching secondary school students.

One of my main interests is the environment . I love to go for walks in the countryside, and I am passionate about wanting this generation to leave a healthy earth for the next. However, I do not believe that jumping on the first bandwagon in order to ease our consciences is necessarily the best solution to the problem.

Another of my interests is in education. I educated my children at home, and am a member of Education Otherwise, which supports the right of parents to educate their children other than in a school. To find out more about this, use the following weblink: http://www.education-otherwise.org/

I am also a governor at Birchwood Avenue Primary School. It is such an amazing experience to watch children develop skills and understanding as they advance through the school, and it's an honour to have been able to play a small part in their success. If you'd like see a little of what the children have been doing, click on the weblink: http://www.birchwoodavenue.herts.sch.uk/

In 2005 I was elected as the member for Hatfield North to sit on Hertfordshire County Council where I chair the Highways and Transport panel. If you want to know more about the work of the County Council click on the link: http://www.hertsdirect.org/

In my spare time I get roped into helping out with a local amateur theatre group. I will either be chaperoning children or acting. My latest challenge is to play McDuff in a musical version of MacBeth. See our antics on: www.woodlandproductions.co.uk

I am a practising Christian and attend a local Baptist church.
