Since the city council launched its self-service e-payments system in March more and more people are taking advantage of the new methods of payment according to Peterborough City Council’s head of customer service Mark Sandhu.
Customers can now make payments for council tax, penalty charge notices, sundry debts, housing benefit overpayments, and business rates by debit or credit card, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To access the system visit https://www.epaycapita.com/Peterborough/index.jsp. Alternatively customers can also make payments by ringing freephone number 0800 398 1977.
The system was set up to give customers more flexible ways of making payments to the city council.
Peterborough Direct staff are also continuing to encourage customers to pay their council tax by direct debit. So far this year, call centre staff have set up 2,100 new direct debits.
Councillor Matthew Dalton, Cabinet member for Customer Focus and Communications, said: “I am delighted to see that Peterborough City Council customers are embracing these more flexible, efficient methods of payment for council services.”
