Since my election on 10th June 2004 I have held a number of Council positions including Vice Chair of the Wednesbury Town Committee. In addition to this I was Chair of the Select Committee on Electoral Participation which produced a number of recommendations on ways to increase the number of people who vote and also register to vote.
In my role as Cabinet Advisor for Housing I chaired the Sandwell Strategic Housing Forum. The Executive of this Forum produced the Sandwell Housing Strategy for 2008 to 2011. You can follow this link for comprehensive details of my Council Service.
In December 2009 I became the Cabinet Member for Safer communities and there are links on the home page to my portfolio responsibilities and community safety initiatives.
Until January 2008 I worked as Constituency Officer for West Bromwich East Member of Parliament, Tom Watson, and prior to that was I Manager of West Bromwich Citizens Advice Bureau for 7 years. In April 2008 I took up my new post of Policy Officer for Regional Action West Midlands.
