Select Committee on Community Safety

In accordance with the aims and objectives of the Council, and in partnership with partner agencies, the overall aim of the Select Committee is to review the Council and wider partnership approach to delivering outcomes in relation to community safety and perceptions of crime, in support of the Sandwell Shared Partnership Priority "A safe and clean place to live".

1. In order to do so, the Select Committee will:-

a. explore the public perceptions of crime within the Borough and their expectations of the agencies involved in crime enforcement and reduction.

b. explore the public perceptions of community safety and their expectations of the agencies involved in community safety.

c. identify how the Council may use its strategic role to influence and encourage the improvement and development of the approach to community safety and tackling crime to improve the environment, place, prospects and perceptions of the place and prospects for Sandwell’s citizens.

2. Submit its findings and recommendations to the Council.
