Salford City Council, Winton Ward
Councillor David Lancaster

About Me

CAREER

I was born in Wigan but moved to Irlam, Salford at an early age, eventually settling in Eccles.  I attended Wellacre School, Urmston and then went on to study at Stretford Technical College.

Prior to my retirement I was an Area Housing Manager for Manchester City Council and was elected on to Salford City Council representing Winton Ward in 1970.  As a result of this, I became a full time councillor in 1999 and in 2003 I was elected to the position of Deputy Leader.

FAMILY

I am happily married with 3 children and 6 grandchildren who are a great source of joy.  I enjoy listening to music and in particular the Halle.  I also enjoy being part of and actively involved in the community, for example helping organise the Winton festivals and Christmas activities.  I am also the Chairman of the Salfordian Hotel (Charity) which caters mainly for the older and disabled members of Salford.
