Anne Marie Fitzgerald biography
Anne Marie was co-opted onto Omagh District council 2007 following the death of her father, the late Michael, who was a councillor since 1989. She represents the Carrickmore and Creggan areas on the ODC.
Anne Marie has a great interest in Childcare Provision, Rural Development, Health and Education issues and leads from the front. She is also an active member of the Frank Ward Sinn Féin cumann Carrickmore / Creggan.
Since her co-option to the council in 2007 Anne Marie has impacted hugely on many issues. Most notably she successfully challenged Omagh district councils over their standing order, which deemed the chairperson must be addressed as chairman, even if a woman fulfilled that role.
Fitzgerald welcomes flood compensation scheme
Mid Tyrone Sinn Féin Councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has welcomed the announcement by Environment Minister Sammy Wilson that householders whose homes have been damaged by the weekend floods will be able to apply for a special compensation payment from the government.

Sinn Féin Mid Tyrone councillor and chairperson of Omagh District councils healthcare committee Anne Maire Fitzgerald has said recent cuts to ambulance provision in the north will affect many throughout the Omagh District, particularly those living in rural communities.

Sinn Féin Mid Tyrone councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has taken up the reigns of Omagh District Council's Health Care Committee. At the July meeting of the Healthcare Committee Councillor Fitzgerald was proposed by party colleague Councillor Sean Clarke and seconded by fellow Mid Tyrone Sinn Féin councillor Sharon O'Brien.
