Welcome to my personal councillor website. I am the Democratic Unionist Party elected member for the electoral ward of Lisburn Town South - part of Lisburn City Council.
I will be using this site to keep you informed about my work, and to provide you with information about developments at Lisburn City Council.
Some information about myself.
I was born and brought up in the City of Lisburn, married with two young children. Was elected to Lisburn City Council in 2001 for the Lisburn Town South Ward. After my successful re-election in 2005, I was appointed Alderman and am currently the Chief Whip of the DUP Council Group, which is the biggest Council Group on Lisburn City Council.
In terms of office, I am Chairman of Environmental Services and Chairman of Lisburn City Council’s Housing Executive Committee. I am also a member of the Planning, Strategic Policy, Personnel, and Leisure Services Committees. I was entrusted with the Chairmanship of the Redevelopment Committee of Lisburn Adult Resource Centre.
I have worked closely with community groups and statutory bodies addressing a range of issues including social deprivation, anti-social behavior, housing needs, people with learning disabilities and recreational facilities. Over the past 7 years, I have become well known as a public representative who serves constituents on bread and butter issues.
I hope that you will feel free to use the ‘Contact Me’ button in the toolbar on the left of this site to let me know your views on any important upcoming business that the council is involved in. I’d also be interested to hear how you’d like me to use this website – and other internet tools to improve the way that important local issues are communicated to you.
With best wishes
Alderman Paul Porter .
