Welcome to my personal councillor website. I am the Democratic Unionist Party elected member for the electoral ward of Dunmurry Cross - part of Lisburn City Council. Dunmurry Cross includes Dunmurry village, part of Seymour Hill, Areema, Colin, Twinbrook, Lagmore and Poleglass. I am committed to represent everyone from all areas of Dunmurry Cross and welcome enquiries from all sections.
I will be using this site to keep you informed about my work, and to provide you with information about developments at Lisburn City Council.

I am from a rural background and am a Young Farmers' Ambassador having represented YFCU in Canada some years ago. I was employed in the NI Civil Service for 31 years with the Social Security Agency and retired in 2003. The skills I developed whilst employed with the Agency have proved invaluable to me as a Councillor and I often assist my constituents with application forms for benefits etc.
I am a founder member of Brookmount Cultural & Education Society and served for 3 years as development officer.
I work part time for Orange Community Network which assists community groups who meet in Orange halls to access funding for capital improvements and programme development.
I am a 55 year old widowed mother of two grown up children. I am a member of the Association of Loyal Orangewomen of Ireland and I am a member of Maze Presbyterian Church.
I am interested in history, unionist culture especially Ulster Scots and politics. I enjoy a good book but seldom have time for this luxury.
I hope that you will feel free to use the ‘Contact Me’ button in the toolbar on the left of this site to let me know your views on any important upcoming business that the council is involved in. I’d also be interested to hear how you’d like me to use this website – and other internet tools to improve the way that important local issues are communicated to you.
With best wishes
Councillor Margaret Tolerton .
