I am Councillor Eve Martin, currently the Deputy Mayor and aConservative councillor for Conquest Ward on Hastings Borough Council. I was first elected to this ward in 2004 though I have had a previous spell as a councillor between 2000-2.
Conquest Ward includes the Conquest Hospital, the Hastings Centre for conferences and the Helenswood Lower School. It stradles the border between Hastings and St Leonards and borders Rother.
I've done a lot of work on the council finding solutions to the parking problems around the hospital as well as addressing similar issues around the Little Ridge primary school and William Parker secondary school. I am a governor at Little Ridge.
I've also involved in an ongoing campaign on disability access issues, successfully securing some drop-kerb access for wheelchairs around the hospital. I also campaign on health issues.
I have listened to residents concerns on phone-masts and we successfully opposed a couple of installations within the ward.
I conduct six surgeries a year at William Parker School. If you'd like to know details of when the next one is, please use the contact me button on this website.
I am now retired, but as a second career, I work part-time in a care home, as well as working with schoolchildren. I am a member of the Royal British Legion, in which capacity I work on the sub-committee that manages Remembrance Day events. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, art and listening to music.
