Mark Hook is currently the leader of the Conservative Group and also Leader of the Council. He first served as a Councillor in 1983 until 1991 for the old leesland ward. He was re-elected to serve Anglesey ward in 1998 and again in 2008 for Alverstoke Ward and now has over 20 years experience, making him one of the longest serving Councillors in Gosport.
A local businessman, trading in Gosport since 1990, he can often be seen in the High Street selling his range of furniture, carpets, household goods and pet accessories.
Married with three grown up sons and a teenage daughter, he lives in Elson. Mark is extremely active in youth matters as he was elected theYouth champion for Gosport by members of Gosport Youth Council and does charitable work with the Round Table Childrens' Wish, a charity that provides treats for terminally ill children. He is also President of the local branch of St. Johns Ambulance and Chairman of Gosport Borough Football Club but takes a keen interest in all sporting activites in the Borough.
His expertise in matters financial is a great asset to the council as is his grasp of the day to day running of local community affairs.
