Mark Hook is currently the Leader of the Conservative Group, from 2003, and Leader of the Council since 2009. He first served as a Councillor in 1983 until 1991 for the old Leesland Ward. Mark was re-elected to serve Anglesey Ward in 1998 and again in 2012 for Alverstoke Ward and now has over 22 years experience, making him one of the longest serving Councillors in Gosport.
A local businessman, trading in Gosport since 1990, Mark can often be seen in the High Street selling his range of furniture, carpets, household goods and pet accessories.
Married with three grown up sons and a teenage daughter, he lives in Elson. Mark, as a former Gosport Borough Youth champion, recognises the value the youth of today play in taking Gosport forward. He is Chairman of Gosport Borough Football Club, and takes a keen interest in all sporting activites in the Borough.
Delivering on the promises made is key to developing the trust in local politics and Mark's aim is to restore that trust between the electorate and local politicians.
Mark's expertise in matters financial is a great asset to the Council, as is his grasp of the day to day running of local community affairs during these austere times.
