I am one of four SDLP Councillors elected to represent the people of the Northland District Electoral Area (DEA) of Derry City Council. I was first elected in May 2011.
The Northland DEA includes the residential areas of Ballymagroarty, Hazelbank, Creggan Road, Crevagh, Foyle Springs, Pennyburn, Rosemount, Springtown, Strand, Fountain, Foyle Road, Diamond and Derry City Centre.
The Northland DEA is also home to Derrys largest private sector employer, Seagate Technologies and the Magee College campus of the University Of Ulster. The North West Regional College and the entire city centre business and shopping precinct are also to be found within the Northland boundaries.
Major tourist attractions include Derrys historic walls, our new Peace Bridge, the Guildhall. The Tower Museum and Craft Village sit side by side and there are also the citys two Cathedrals, St Columbs and St Eugenes in the Northland DEA.
I will be using this website to keep you informed about my constituency work and that of my colleagues in this important part of our city.
This website has been provided to help me in my work as a Councillor – to help me to communicate with all of my constituents, regardless of their politics, race, religion, gender or sexuality. It has been provided to help improve the quality of communication between Councillors and the people that we represent. I pledge to represent everyone equally.
Feel free to use the ‘Contact Me’ button in the toolbar on the left menu of this site. I am happy to hear your views and ideas about any upcoming or past business that Derry City Council is involved in or to contact me about any issues or concerns that you may have.
With best wishes,
Councillor John Boyle
