The website of Councillor Robert Smith (Mayor 07-08)

Could I welcome you to my personal councillor website.

I am a member of the Democratic Unionist Party and elected for the electoral ward of Craigavon Central - part of Craigavon Borough Council.

I will be using this site to keep you informed about my work, and to provide you with information about developments in Craigavon.

This website has been provided to help me in my work as a councillor – to help me communicate with all residents of Craigavon Borough Council, regardless of their political persuasion. It has been provided to help improve the quality of communication between councillors and the people that they represent. As this website has been established with funding from the e-Government Fund programme, it is not appropriate for me to use it for the purposes of political campaigning.

However, there is a ‘My Politics’ link in the toolbar on the left-hand side of this website, and I may use that to link you to political sites that I think would be of interest to you.

Please feel free to use the ‘Contact Me’ button in the toolbar on the left of this site to let me know your views on any important upcoming business that the council is involved in.

I’d also be interested to hear how you’d like me to use this website – and other internet tools to improve the way that important local issues are communicated to you.

Thank you and my best wishes to all

Councillor Robert Smith (Mayor 07-08).

Mayor's Conference
The Mayors Conferance went very well; the key note speaker, Mr Will McKee spoke on the quilties of leaders, the type of leader, mistakes that can be made, reaction to success, learning from pain, he also spoke very honestly of his own experiance, the downs, pain and success. This Conferance was filmed and we intend now to use the feedback to put on our website in the next three weeks the information gathered; it has been a great oppertunity to meet local business people. The evening dinner had a gathering of some forty top employers within the Craigavon area, the Mayors Business Dinner was a great evening where our Economic Developement team had marvellous feedback from each of the tables where they discussed our future links and how we could help as a Council.. The intention of Council is to make sure this is not a one off event but through Business forum groups, continue to develope contact and see where it is Council can assist. I would wish to thank all who came.
