Welcome,

I am delighted to have this webpage as a media to interact with the people that I am representing in the Borough of Craigavon.

Firstly, I will tell you a bit about the area I represent. The Borough of Craigavon stretches from the shores of Lough Neagh, to the orchards of County Armagh and includes some of the lovely villages of Antrim and Down. The population of the Borough is 83,000 and this is increasing, as is the ethnic diversity of the area. It is my pleasure to serve this wide range of people.

Now I will tell you about my experience as a councillor. I was elected to Craigavon Borough Council in 1993 and was re-elected in 1997, 2001 and 2005 for the Loughside District Electoral Area. During my time on the council I have served on all council committees and have been Chair of the Enviromental Services on four occasions.

I have also represented Craigavon Council on other bodies including the Cross-Border Partnership for the East Border Region and am a former Chair of "Shaping Craigavon's Future" Group. I was also Mayor of Craigavon in 1999.

In my work as an MLA for Upper Bann, I have recently been moved from the committee for the OFMDFM to the Health & Environment committee. I am also a representative for the SDLP on the Northern Ireland Police Partnership Board. I am currently the SDLP spokesperson on Equality and represent the Party on the NI Forum for a Bill of Rights.

I continue to work for all the people of Craigavon and aim to improve the area that they live in.
