Hastings Borough Council, Castle Ward
Councillor Paul Barlow

Representing Castle Ward

Welcome to my website!  Here you will find news on what I have been up to, as well as useful information on the area I represent, Castle Ward.

I was elected to Hastings Borough Council in May 2008 on a 19.1% swing.  Many people have put a lot of trust in me, and I expect to repay that trust, and earn more, in the months and years to come.  Although I was elected a Labour and Co-operative Party Councillor, I am here to serve the interests of all residents regardless of political persuasion.

Hastings Castle from the Town Centre       Make a Difference

Castle Ward covers the town centre and residential areas nearby - from the beach to the railway, up to West Hill and the Castle, and across to the Falaise Gym, Clambers and Hastings Museum.  If you are unsure whether you live in Castle Ward, click here for a list of streets in the ward put together by the Castle Ward Forum.

It is a mixed area with, on the whole, some serious deprivation issues.  There are over 4,000 electors and over 3,000 homes, together with most of the town's businesses, the main railway station and bus terminuses.  The population swells by day, and this brings severe pressures in terms of parking, transport and litter, among other things.

On the other hand it is an area of great architecture, all of us can walk to the seafront, we have some wonderful open spaces in and around the ward (though not so much in the town centre) and there are many opportunities opening up through the regeneration of the town.
